FAQ

Q: How do I see the same information as someone else on my farm?
As long as you sign in with the same account you will be able to see the same information.
Q: Can I try the app before I subscribe to it?
Absolutely! Just download The Calving Book in the app store to start your 21-day free trial. After your 21 days are up, you will have to subscribe to get back into the app.
Q: How do I subscribe?
From the subscription page within the app, click “Buy” button and the app will walk you through the rest of the steps.
Q: Does my information exchange between Android and iOS devices?
Yes it does! What you see on one phone will be on another phone as long as they are both signed into the same account.
Q: Is it possible sort the calves by pasture?
You can do it by adding a new book. Be sure to select which book you want it in when you add a calf.
Q: What is the difference between the “Pro” and “Plus” apps?
The pro app is our more basic app. It is strictly a calving book and it keeps vaccination records. Our plus app keeps track of breeding, preg-checking, and weaning records in addition to all of the features of the pro app. With our plus app, you can also view cow and sire history. We generally recommend our plus app because it has more features and updates come to it faster.

  1. Is there a place to save your sign in, so you don’t have to enter it every time you want to log in?

  2. If I have the lite app and later decide to go with the pro app, can I transfer the info into the pro version?

  3. Can I enter all of my cow numbers prior to calving and then do a search when they calve to update?

  4. Trying to get the access code to be able to go online but can’t figure out where to see it or make it.

  5. The report section notes “twins”, however I can’t find how to input twins when entering a calf.

  6. Is this app compatible with MacBook? For instance if I have the app on my iPhone or iPad or both, can I also access it from MacBook?

  7. Is there a way to import cattle information from excel onto the calving book to avoid entering all the data manually?

  8. Are you able to input treatment records such as vaccinations en masse or do they need to be put in individually? If this is the first year that I’ll be using the app, can I input historical years to have the info all together? Will you be adding a feature that allows a photo of the cow or calf? Thanks!

    1. Hi Dana, you can enter vaccines by book if you would like. If you press and hold on any record in a particular book, you will see a quick menu. From there, there is a batch vaccines button that allows you enter records for the whole group. You can enter past years’ information if you like, just create a book for each year! Right now, we are not planning on adding the ability to upload a photo.

  9. I would like to print off on the report the shots that my calves are getting when they get sick. For example, we gave a calf a Boluse and Resflor for Scours, so instead of having “Udder Grade” on my report I would rather see a “Vaccine” for each animal individually, is this possible? I guess I am asking if we can pick and chose what we want to see on the exported report. I realize you can do this if you export it in excel, but there is no Vaccine section. Thank you.

    1. Hi Carol! Please give Ellen a call when you get a chance and we will help you get something worked out!
